수직기와 수편기를 활용한 창의적 직물디자인을 위해 자료수집, 이미지구축, 조직설계, 제작 단계를 거쳐 타겟 마켓과 트렌드에 부합하는 직물디자인을 개발한다.
교과목해설(영문)
This module provides an opportunity for students to develop creative woven and knit textiles using a loom or a knitting machine with in depth knowledge of textile structures, fiber materials, and colors. Students will learn the basic techniques of hand machine knitting and explore the possibilities of structural effects, color, pattern, and material quality within those techniques. Students are encouraged to carry out experiments with image development methods from diverse sources as a first step to develop creative textile designs. Students will develop an inspirational theme from which to acquire visual imagery. This will be used as a focus for the research and development of fabric, color, pattern and texture stories with reference to textile design trends.
Depending on the projects' parameters, students may use hand loom or hand knitting machine.
Design trends, and textile lines are developed for a wide range of markets. Focus is on developing cohesive, visually edited boards for specific areas. Oral presentation skills are developed at the conclusion of each project.
